Eco-friendly scenic getaway next to the Great Wall

Brickyard Retreat. 

The eco-friendly Brickyard Retreat at Mutianyu Great Wall is a former glazed tile factory that has been converted into a lush and private retreat. Brickyard Retreat cater to individuals seeking rejuvenation and privacy as well as intimate celebrations for special people, small groups of discerning individuals, and high level meetings and retreats. Their guests share the vision of sustainability and responsible tourism. Each guest room offers a story-and-a-half window wall and private terrace for viewing the Great Wall during the day and the stars at night. 

Accommodation. This getaway offers privacy through its 25 guest rooms and 9 luxury homes scattered throughout the village, all with windows facing the Great Wall. Down below we introduce one grand home and one stunning suite.

La Petite Muraille. This sophisticated sanctuary offers a collection of books, artworks, and fine furnishings, a tatami room for viewing the Great Wall. In addition, lovingly tended English garden and lawn, reflecting pond and fountain, perfect for private relaxation or for parties and events. A graceful curving lane under a massive spreading chestnut tree leads up to a pristine Japanese garden.

Chairman's Suite. This suite offers a 94 sqm interior and is entered through a 49 sqm private courtyard with an outdoor shower. Inside there is a living room and kitchenette with powder room and a bedroom with one queen bed. Double height window walls facing the Great Wall and clerestory windows to the south and west all afford expansive views. Two fireplaces and a Japanese soaking tub are among the many amenities.

What to eat. As a part of their sustainable offering, the Brickyard Retreat holds a canteen with fresh and locally produced food. The dishes served include both Chinese and Western cousine. 

Activities. Brickyard Retreat offers a wide range of relaxing activities. For example, you can choose to enjoy a massage or outdoor hot tub at the spa, or go for walks and explore the local Mutianyu village. Down below we introduce two other activities; the Great Wall and the upcoming Thanksgiving dinner.

Take a walk on the Great Wall. The Mutianyu section of the Great Wall is one go the best-preserved parts of the Great Wall. If you are looking for a part of the Great Wall that is less crowded than Badaling and Juyongguan, then this is the place to choose.

How to get there? The Brickyard Retreat is located about 90 minutes drive from Downtown Beijing and about 75 minutes from Beijing International Airport. The entrance to the Mutianyu Great Wall can be reached with less than 5 minutes travel from Brickyard Retreat.
